           St. Lucia Community Self Help At Work

Today I was late posting a picture because my neighborhood had
a self help program on this morning.

You see our roads are in a major state of disrepair with potholes
so large that some residents have taken to calling them Bermuda
Triangles!

Problem is,despite this sorry state of affairs the authorities insist
that the roads are private while residents are suffering the wear
the fact that every election we hear the opposition party’s concern
about these self- same roads, together with their promise to effect
repairs.  Then after elections we always hear that the roads are
private…

Welcome to Paradise!…and the problems of being a poor third world
country.

So the community has taken it upon itself to raise some money through
monthly contributions from residents and to start patching the road
through community self help.

And that is what I found myself doing this morning.

While at work this morning I got this absolutely stunning photo of
Little Max & his Dad hard at work preparing a pothole for some concrete.

Now while we may not have lots of money, here’s a priceless shot that
just shows how much love and a sense of community we all share in our
hearts.

It is this same love and utter selflessness that you will experience when
ever we get together down here for a wedding in Paradise!
