Day 10/355 Left

1000 Words A Day – Welcome To My World

St. Lucia Horseback Riding
Just Another St. Lucia Day of Fun & Frolic

This picture so epitomizes the simple essence of the easy going
fun loving people that we are down here in St. Lucia.

Isn’t it funny that so many people must save up for a year or two
just to enjoy a few short days in paradise?!

Now you’re really gonna love tomorrow’s picture because in
contrasts it will show how the average visitor on an island trip
attempts to enjoy Paradise…You’re really gonna love it!

BTW If you’ve been enjoying my PhotoBlogging why not invite
your Twitter and Facebook friends to come hang with us…
Hey the beer’s on me!

===================================================================

OK now let me tell you how I got ripped to shreds last night by
a British Bride who hails from St. Lucia…Viewer Discretion is
advised because the details are gory…

This all began when I asked Grace to give me some feedback
on my new St. Lucia Wedding Guru Website.

With my site up and running for about a month I felt that my
search engine rankings should be higher, so in an effort to
boost my rankings I did some keyword research and built
some text around the most popular keywords for weddings in
St.Lucia.

Well Grace was not impressed – to say the least.  So below is a
copy of her email, together with my response.

Please post some comments to let me know what you think,
especially if you’re getting married soon.

Here’s the Email:

Dear Kirk

Since you wanted my comments, here it goes, hope it helps
and by the way I do know your face, you’ve just grown (smile)

Whilst looking for a photographer in St Lucia, I was most
amused by how many people call themselves professionals.
They don’t even wait for someone else to judge their work or
get recommended too.  However, I stayed away from everyone
who called themselves professional and the best on the island
because we had bad experiences with my sister’s wedding with
those ‘professional and best’ photographers.  Hope you are
not offended.

I think that you can revamp your wording on your website, to
me it looks like to you are begging people to use you.  If you
as good as you claim to be then your reputation should sell
itself and I think you could do better on your choice of words
and please read some sentences again because for example:

So You’re gonna have a St. Lucia Wedding.  Well
congratulations because a wedding in St. Lucia can be truly
spectacular once you pick the right St. Lucia Photographer.

This should read St Lucian instead of St Lucia?  And there is
also another in the 1st or 2nd paragraph.

Do let me know if I have offended you as I did not mean to.
I think professional should be used once in your webpage
and put together with the right choice of words.

Look forward to at least saying hi when i get home so
please do tell Tony to point me out - that is if you wish too.

Have a great day.

Kind regards,

Grace

Now here’s my response:

Hi Grace,

Many Thanks for your comments and there is no offence
taken, especially since no offence was meant!

Funny you should raise those concerns & they really have
me thinking.  I only placed this write up on my website
yesterday and the words were chosen specifically because
these are the most searched for words & phrases when
someone is getting married in St. Lucia.

Trouble however is that I must strike a balance between
what looks good for the search engines and what inspires
confidence in a bride.

Since people react more strongly to the things that turn them
off rather than the things that they like I must now give serious
thought as to how best to proceed.

You have me thinking & that is really really good so once again,
Many Thanks!

I would really love to meet you so why don’t we stop and have
a drink when you are here…You and your hubby of course!

My cell is 518 5800 & my land line is 450.2295

I agree with you that many people on island are not competent,
which is a royal shame because you only have one chance to
get it right.  Ultimately I hope everything works out perfectly for
you.  This is my wish for every bride so much so that on every
page of my site I have a list of other photographers who are good.

Talk Soon,

Kirk

And just because I’ve kept you for so long here’s another fun
photo for you to feast your eyes upon!…Enjoy and shoot me
some feedback please
