St. Lucia Sunset at Choc Bay
This is a classic sunset view looking across Choc Bay from the patio at Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia.
Did you know that some of the best sunset shots are to be had long after the sun has actually set?!
In the Caribbean if you stick around after the sun has set off the horizon you can often be rewarded with a spectacular light show, generally about 20 minutes later. The amazing thing is that these light shows appear even when the actual sunset has lacked beauty and the punch you’d expect.
In addition to there being more colour in the sky after the sun actually sets, the sky is more evenly lit, allowing your camera to capture more detail.
Ideally these shots should be made with a tripod (You’re using one right!?) or use a higher ISO setting and experiment with "Long Exposure Noise Reduction" if your camera has this feature.
Want to add even more punch to your sunset photos?…Switch your camera’s "White Balance" to "Window Lighting" and your camera’s internal processor will extract a significant portion of the "Blue Energy" from your shot to create a more intense sunset hue!
